Do It : Design for Manufacturing
|
Proven
Experience
We have worked with manufacturers ranging from assembly houses
in China to clean room injection molders of medical products
based in here in the United States. Our understanding of the
manufacturing process and training in Design for Manufacturing
ensures that your product will make a smooth transition from
the computer screen to the production floor. Whenever possible,
we try to involve the manufacturer of the product early in the
design cycle.
Sensitivity to Product Costs
We understand what factors contribute to total product cost:
from resin costs to manufacturing speed to “cost of quality.”
We will work with you to help achieve your target price. If
we don't believe it's realistic, we will make sure that your
goals are discussed up front in order to prioritize design features
or specifications so that the final design reflects the essence
of what you're looking for.
Experience
with Tooling Vendors
We have worked closely with a number of injection mold makers,
and are skilled at designing parts to avoid costly tooling features
where they may not be necessary. By making creative adjustments
to part designs we have eliminated undercuts, tooling actions,
inserts, and other expensive features. We are familiar with
standard mold components, and when mold actions are required
we can adjust the design to use them. In the most extreme cases,
we can optimize the part design to reduce or eliminate the use
of electrodes to burn in features and allow the tool to be machined
with standard cutters. |
